I have a guinea pig and she's not very big (I think she's full grown) and I was just wondering how big of a cage ya'll keep your piggies in? What do you recommend? Right now I have her in a 15 gallon plastic clear tub. Thank you! - I want something she can't crawl out of and run amuck all over my apt. Thanks!

  1. i think the bigger the better, giv her as much room to play and run around as you can..we used a christmas tree storage tub,,the biggest one they had at walmart,,it was like four of five feet long and a couple feet wide and like two feet deep,we had two in there and they seemed pretty happy..they cant jump out but they can climb pretty good...keep that in mind when setting up her "furniture" in the cage..and just fill it up with cool toys and things to chew on.you could also hide little treats thru out the cage to keep her entertained...also guinea pigs like company..you may wana consider gettin her a pal to hang out with while you are gone..they dont even have to be in the same cage just within "talking" distance..if you do decide to put them together make sure they are getting along..you could also try a litter box, they make a little one that fits in the corner of the cage..just put soiled bedding in there and put the box in a corner she already goes in, and before long she should be going it it like a pro..tons less messy.. good luck and enjoy that little cutie..

  2. Well you shouldn't have her in a tub, you should have a wire cage with a hard plastic bottom, or she can get sick from poor air circulation, and it'll smell horrible. I would suggest at least bigger than 2feet  by 3feet, mine is 3 feet by 5 feet about, and she has lots of toys and things, but i also made mine, go to the pet store and they can tell you

  3. they need lots of exercise!!

  4. A 15 gallon tub is nowhere near the correct housing for a guinea pig! Tubs don't provide correct ventilation and can make your guinea pig sick. And that is very very small, she cannot possibly get proper exercise inside it. Building a properly sized cage (7.5 sq feet minimum), is cheap and easy to do. 5. 3ft by like 1 and a half i have two in that size cage but that is a comfy size for one guinie too!

  6. I've always used something about  2’ x 2’. Something roomy with plenty of room to run around and play and do little piggy things.

Also room to put hide-outs, and toys.

I know this is a Ferret site, but I have also bought things here for my pigs along with my Ferrets.

Lots of different cages to chose from and most are perfect for a pig.

Also the cheapest site I have found for cages. Most pet stores will charge double.
