How big of a hard drive should a college student have?

I'm getting a laptop and am wondering how big of hard drive would be sufficient to store my files.

  1. Depends on your major. Lit (doc files) takes one heck of a lot less space than art (graphics) and programming (graphics and gaming and who knows what)... 80 to 150 depending.

  3. Around 100-150gig. I would assume you will be using a program like AutoCad in your major, so those file take up more room then just .doc files. I am sure you will be using other programs on your computer too like Powerpoint and microsoft for lectures too as well. Really 50-100 gig is a lot of memory and probably only need around 80gig. But once you build up files, your system gets cluttered up and starts to slow down, so I always go with extra gigs.
