  1. One hermit crab needs a vivarium size of at least 5 gallons,

    Plus any extra, 2.5 gallons,

    So a Ten gallon.

  2. 20 gallons would be good for 3 hermit crabs

  3. A 10 to 20 gallon tank would probably be good.

  4. A ten gallon tank will be perfect..You need to make sure that your substrate is atleast 3 inches deep, because hermit crabs love to dig and burrow tunnels and whatnot.. you can use sand or forrest bedding, but i would recommend sand, since the forrest bedding can mold and attract bugs..also they love to climb so make sure you put in something to climb on in there..i read before they love drift wood, but when i tried that, the moister you have to keep in the tank actually made it mildew, so now for mine i have a plastic driftwood piece for them to climb on..also make sure you offer them clean dechlorinated water..make sure that it is not so deep that the crabs cant climb out of it..just a small dish will be fine..as far as the sponge i have tried it both ways and i really dont think you need the sponge in there..it seems to serve no purpose and just seems like a breeding ground for mold and germs..good luck with your crabs..they are so funny to watch=)
