How big of a threat is this Hurricane Gustav?

I'm not saying its weak, I'm no weather man, but Im wondering if its gonna be as big as a problem as Katrina? Worse? Not at all maybe? Hopefully.....

When Katrina hit, it wasn't the strength of the storm that did New Orleans in, it was the weakness of the levees. New Orleans survived Katrina great, it was the breaking of the levees a few hours after the storm that caused the flooding. But now that only some of the levees have been repaired, I don't think it will matter how strong Gustav is, it just depends on which levees it hits and how well we repaired the few that we did repair.

When Katrina was coming, they treated it with, "Ho-Hum".  Now they know better. Unfortunately it will have a negative impact on the economy of that area. There already were enough people who refused to vacation there, they don't need to add to that number.

To tell you the truth I think that all the people want to save New Orleans are dumb. New Orleans is like a big cereal bowl about to be filled with milk. We'll all be wasting money by constantly trying to rebuild New Orleans over and over. All our taxes would be wasted. Just forget it and leave people of New Orleans.

It really IS impossible to say... There are SO many variables involved... -For example: Let's say that empty New Orleans gets spared by the storm; but Batton Rouge (currently overflowing with Evacuees) is almost wiped off the map by Record Flooding... -Which is Worse- Katrina or Gustav ???  ANY storm is a "threat" if You happen to be standing under the ONE Tree that it blows down ! It ALL depends on WHAT happens WHERE You Are... You NEVER know...

Gustav is currently a Category 3 and is expected to strengthen slightly before it makes landfall. It is a very dangerous storm.
