  1. You want to get a tank that if you held the snake up around the outside of the tank, he would go half-way around the enclosure. Though the Ball Python is very tricky because sometimes. they will refuse to eat in a cage that is too big. But then again, you don't want them to get a cage that is way too small either. =)

Just make sure the tank is big enough to have 2 hiding places, a watering hole, a log or something to play on, and whatever else you want in your enclosure. Also, you might want to buy another tank (but smaller) and use it to feed your snake in it. That can help with the feeding issues that BPs have. =D

  2. Hello; do you mean for a baby or an adult?

Baby Ball pythons can easily be kept in a 20 gallon long for a year to a year and a half, but after that will need to be switched over to a 40-55 gallon. Adults should have a minimum of four square feet of floor space, preferably five to six. Keep in mind that Ball pythons are primarily a terrestrial species, so if you have to choose between extra height or more floor space; always go with the floor space. :)

I hope this helps, and if you have any further questions at all on the subject; please feel free to message me and I will be more than happy to assist you.

Good luck with your Ball python!

  3. as big as you have space to fit it into.

  4. 3' 6" by 3' 6"

  5. Just wanted to say that one of the answers given made reference to tank size and feeding. Personally I would feed the snake in a different setting than that which it lives in. Ball pythons are a terrestrial species as someone else pointed out so you need an enclosure that allows for plenty of ground space to move around on. ball pythons average around 4ft but females have been recorded as getting up to 6ft so you need an enclosure that a snake that size could move around freely and keep in mind ball pythons are midsized bodied snakes.

  6. a normal 10 gallon fish tank should do.when u pick a cage make shure it is about twice as long and wide as the animal itself...so that it has room to move freely and comfortably.but the bigger the better

  7. The bigger the enclosure, the bigger the snake will grow (to an extent). I'd say get as big a tank as you have space for, within common sense reason of course.

  8. I keep mine in a 40 gallon breeder. Its 3' by 18"

  9. if u get a baby ball python than i would put it in a 10 gallon but after a couple months put it in a 15 or 20 gallon and after a year it can live the rest of its life in a 25 or 30 gallon. i wouldnt put it in a big cage like a 45 gallon it coult get stressed out.

    hope i helped

  10. i started my ball off in a 40 gal. terrerium and she did fine, she was about 13 inches long, and shes about 21 inches long now. Also acording to what i have read, a 55 gal aquarium is big enough for 1 adult ball python but i would recomend a custom built enclosure or a a big store bought one like 150 gal up to 300 glass or netted. they have them on diff sites on the net.
