Question:

How big should the heat pad be for my 50 gallon aquarium?

It will be for frogs. I looked at petco.com but its all in watts, so I was not sure.

  1. right heat pads work better for some frog species on the side (on the outside with a coco panel or exo terra style background attached to the inside of the tank) rather than the bottom of the tank(on the outside always) what species are u getting and ill tell u whats best. if its going under 1/3 of the tank size is about what your looking for  

    as for the water question heat pads aren't idea but spot bulbs tend to dry out phibs and aren't recommended so a normal aquarium heater and guard would be best

    also get a thermostat and thermometers when eva using a heat pad


  2. if you want to use a UTH on the back side of the box for the heat pad it will tell you what size aquarium the heat pad will work for.

  3. Don't use an UTH, instead use a heat lamp, the water base would absorb all the heat. Just use an aquatic heater if you want the water warmed.
