Other news outlets may have known already, but held back on spreading the gossip. There are some things worth printing and other things that are a waste of ink. The Enquirer is a gossip machine, full of trivial news. And they didnt think about the stress the news would cause to his wife, a cancer patient. Now Mrs. Edwards has another major thing to worry about.

True Mr Edwards shouldnt have cheated in the first place, but hes a human who needed companionship that his wife couldnt provide at the time. It was weak of him, but he probably had regret for his actions which is why he ended the affair. The NE didnt need to add to her stress. Those at the head of the news networks should have seen that it would, and show some compassion by at least waiting until Mrs Edwards recovered. There is a time and place for things to be revealed. Now that the details are out, what good came from it? Nothing. It didnt stop the affair or change anything. And at the end of the day, its Mrs. Edwards crying alone in her room.
