I have a 2 hour layover in Chicago going to Minnesota, and the last time I was at the Greyhound station was about 5PM on a Friday evening and it was so busy that it was scary. I dont want to be scared, so is there any simple tips someone could give me for getting to my appropriate terminal for my bus? Will the people at the station help me?

  1. Don't worry, you'll be fine.  There will be plenty of people there who can help you get to where you need to be.  I doubt the station will be as busy and crazy as it was at 5 pm on a Friday, a time when MANY people are coming in and out of Chicago.

  2. People in Chicago are always helpful so that shouldn't be an issue.  That station is the bad part of an otherwise good area.  The area used to be pretty scary, but now it is pretty much just that station and most of the bad element rides in on the buses.  If you have two hours I would recommend walking over to Greek town and getting some food or a drink in the bar.  Otherwise you could take a cab somewhere.  Either way it will be more enjoyable than staying in the station.  Good luck and be safe!

  3. I would strongly suggest avoiding Greyhound! the system is in a poor state of operation at the moment. Consider taking Megabus instead for better service and lower prices. They have routes between Chicago and Minnesota as well as many other destinations. Seriously Greyhound is the pitts these days.

  4. Thats kind of a rough part of town, even worse at night. Its probably gonna be busy like usual.

Just follow the signs and read the maps if you get lost. Also the guards will probably give you directions.
