if you have an projector can you give me some advice...

is it actually true that you can remove the projected black bars on a 4:3 projector (basically true 16:9)

  1. It is possible to hide the black bars but not get rid of them. If your native aspect ratio is 4:3 and you are projecting in 16:9 the projector has no choice but to give it black bars on the top and bottom. To hide them you can get a 16:9 screen and align the image to fit as if the projector was really 16:9. But then you would half to make everything you project 16:9 so don’t make the purchase if you aren’t sure if you want that. You could also do it the less pro way and put some black paper by the lens to block some of the light on the top and bottom. (The further away the paper is from the lens the better the sharpness.) There are always going to be different movie aspect ratios but 16:9 is the closest to all of them. Most things now days (besides movies) are 16:9 format so a 16:9 projector would be better if you are really concerned about the black bars.
