If you're talking about adding 8 ball and 9 ball specifically to yahoo answers it's not necessary. These are just specific games played on a pool table, and there are several more popular games, along with a million little known games. Plus, most of the legitimate questions (all those not about Yahoo pool) on here pertain to equipment or technique, which are not specific to a particular game.

Snooker is mentioned specifically because although it is also a cue sport, almost everything about snooker is different than pool, including the table, cues, techniques and strategies. Plus snooker is pretty much the only game that is played on a snooker table (I know there are a few others, but not the variety you encounter on a pool table).
