Question:

How can Americans claim to love this country and want more rights, but most don't vote libertarian??

I was researching the different political parties, because I wasn't sure which one I most identified with. It seems like Republicans care only about the wealthy, to h**l with the poor...the Democrats care too much about the poor, to h**l with the working man.

Neither seem fair AT ALL.

But then I read about Libertarianism. It's about smaller government, following the constitution and giving people more rights and freedoms (which would help ease the problem of prisons becoming so overpopulated, because trivial crimes wouldn't be punished so harshly).

It sounds wonderful, it sounds like EXACTLY what EVERYONE is asking for...so WHY don't more people vote this way??

How can we say we want freedoms yet we are willingly signing them away?!

  1. It is because people are idiots.  They have been brain washed for so long now that they are convinced that only a Dummycrap or a Republican can get elected, therefore they generally vote this way because they are convinced that no other party has a chance.  It is really sad when you think about it, but I don't see this changing anytime soon.

  2. I want all rule & control with-in the hands of the legal citizen majority under a true direct consensus democracy that is valid and verifiable.

Not phony representative government "whom" should be loyal fire at will employee's to the legal citizens, that are well managed. Not like what exist now!

You have NO way of verifing your vote like one might have checking transactions on your bank account etc.

Most of the Representatives are plants for big money business and make additional incomes on top of their to high paid positions NOW!

No more Republic of the Fascist few!

Lets have of/by/for the legal citizen majority.

  3. I don't know what propaganda you have been listening to, but the Republicans don't "care only about the wealthy". You need to do better research.

In direct response to your question, people don't vote 3rd party because the 2 parties have made the laws so that they are the only 2 that can win. We have been stuck in the 2 party system for so long that many people don't care about issues, they only vote on party lines. So I guess the real answer is apathy. Most Americans just don't care, they are quite literally fat, dumb, and happy.

  4. Because the other 2 parties are older & have made a lot more connections which = much more donations = more money to advertise & promote heir BS.

  5. Yeah you'd think more people would vote that way, but unfortunately it is because they think that no other party can win so they go with whichever most closely appeals to them out of the other two instead.

As to the guy who said the free market doesn't care about the environment, you should pick up an economics book.  If a logging company cut all the trees away they would be out of business very soon.  That is why they have the incentive to replant because they know that with no trees they are out of luck unless they plan to only be in business for a decade.  It's all about whether the marginal benefits outweigh the marginal costs.  If the air is going to kill off your workforce because it's toxic, then why would producers not care whether or not in the long run their environment is maintained?

  6. Libertarians promote the free market.

Should private individuals have the freedom to employ child labor? the right to destroy the environment?

the market and democracy don't mix.

We spend 8 hours a day, 40+ hours a week, 50 years of our lives in an undemocratic institution, are decisions in a workplace decided democratically? the workplace is about vertical hierarchy, which means taking orders for the large majority of workers.

Those who are serious about freedom and rights cannot support an economic institution that focuses on the empowerment of the few at the expense of the many.
