How can Brown's Government volunteer aid to Abkhazia & Ossetia when it currently can't help it's own people?

I feel for the peoples affected by this fighting, but Russia is a very, very rich country, it claims Ossetian and Abkhazi people are Russians, so after inflicting this rebuke, surely it can afford to fix what has been destroyed. Georgia is the USA's lapdog in the region.. let them offer aid and help sort out the mess THEY have helped create by using clandestine methods for the past 20 years in making Georgia a pseudo-american state. The UK can't even afford to keep it's pensioners warm this Winter.. sort out your priorities Brown or just go.

Russia is not a very, very rich country. It is behind the UK as the 7th richest country in the World, and per capita it's even worse as Russians are the 78th richest in the World.

Good point and well put . Brown and the looney labour party will always put the needs of anybody but the  british public first .the sooner this traitor and his bunch of cowards  leave the better

When Gordy acts, he believes that he is representing the World. So when he spoke out against Zimbabwe, he said' 'The world condemns...', and yesterday he said, 'The world condemns Russia's...etc.'. Incidentally, not even all of EU countries are unanimous on this, let alone 'the World'.

So when he acts to dole out money, he thinks it is coming out of some airy fairy world pot. Nope. It's coming from our pockets, but try telling it to him. He is up there in some cloud cuckoo land and waiting to be brought down to earth.

BTW, did you heard Rev. Miliband say self-righteously, 'Violence is not the way to solve difficult issues in the 21st century...'  He must have forgotten that that was precisely what was urged on the coalition just before they invaded Iraq and violently forced regime change.

It a valid point you raise here, i would like to know where this money actually comes from. If they have it put aside somewhere & since this is tax payers money we are talking about here, it should be put straight back in to the UK. These days it seems its all about pacifying foreigners for some reason the people who have kept this country afloat are the bottom of the pile :)

Brown loves to give up money to small and un-influential nations because he thinks it makes him look good but he has neither the bottle nor the backbone to stand up against larger nations and even third rate politicians!!
