Lower taxes, reduce corporate and public welfare? Foreign investment? What say you?

  1. Of those, lower taxes is the only one that I think all Canadians could get behind, so long as it wasn't so low that it pushes Canada into a government deficit.

Corporate welfare is a mixed bag.  If done well it is really just the government investing in the private sector.  If done poorly it is governments feeding the national wealth to their friends.

Public welfare is something that Canadians tend to like a lot (at least compared to those guys to the south).  Except for obvious waste, there's likely little public support for serious cuts there, especially to the heath care system.

Foreign investment is generally good, but can have some drawbacks.  So long as the country doesn't become too beholden to foreign investors, it's a good thing.
