Question:

How can Canadians sit back and watch a man get beheaded?

I saw on tv where this psycho in Manitoba stabbed and beheaded a guy on a greyhound bus. How can this happen? Why didn't anyone stop him? Aren't there any people with some guts in Canada to stand up to this guy? It seems that every type of "weapon" in the world is banned in Canada, perhaps they should ban butter knives next.

  1. Don't blame it on the people just because they're Canadian.  If you research a little further, the bus driver flipped a switch so the bus wouldn't move and several of the passengers defended the other passengers by barricading the door and guarding it with wrenches and other tools.  By all means they did not just watch the kid get beheaded.

  2. The whole thing was over in seconds. In that time the driver immobilized the bus and evacuated the passengers, the passengers and driver barricaded the door to trap the perp inside and flagged down a trucker to get tools to use as weapons in case he got out of the bus. In the mean time, others called the police. It is just that in the short time, it was already too late for the victim and the other passengers knew this. The next best thing was to make sure the perp had no chance to get a second victim and to make sure he was captured.

What would you expect people to have done. Given him more victims to kill?

  3. how do you know they were canadians on the bus?

oh i quess because none of them were carrying guns you asume them to be canadians

give me a canadian anyday than a gun slinger from south of the border!

  4. If you were on that bus you'd probably be screaming "OH MY GOD GEORGE BUSH WAS RIGHT OH GOD WHY AM I A REPUBLICAN?!?!?" then you'd flee for your life.. as would everyone else. Dumbass

  5. O Kay little girl, the knife that this killer used was a hunting knife!!! Not a simple butter knife. These people did what anyone would have done, gotten the h**l out of there. I think you, little girl would have $hit your pants if in this situation, just like I would have. Don't think you are any better, this man did an awful thing that was NOT preventable, I think you should re-think your question!!

  6. This type of 'blame the witnesses' is being bandied about the internet, and it is disgusting.  It is amazing how few people have their facts straight.

NOBODY stood by and watch a psycho behead someone.  EVERYBODY was off the bus when the lunatic did this.  NOBODY had any weapons except the Rambo-knife wielding psychopath.  He stabbed a guy at the back of the bus, and while no one else on the bus knew what was happening.  It was dark and most people were asleep.  Mostly women, children and elderly.  By the time everyone was aware that a man had been stabbed, it was too late.  Nothing they could do.  Everyone got off the bus as fast as they could, can you blame them?  He had already killed one passenger.  They contained him on the bus, and at that time, when he was alone, he cut the dead guy's head off.

I don't know if you have ever travelled much on a Greyhound, but the seatbacks are high and they are hard to get around.  In fact someone sitting right behind you is hard to see.  Don't blame these people for getting them and their children out of the way of this nut.  Having 'guts' has nothing to do with it.

Also, weapons are not 'banned' in Canada.  Everyone I know has guns, rifles mainly, and several of them.  It is a nation of hunters.  We just don't use our guns on other people, something which distinguishes Canadians from Americans.

  7. Haha Roderick is Canadian. I find it so hilarious when invisible minorities defend Canada. They've been brainwashed the gov't to hate America, be weak and feminin, and claim that Canada is 100 percent racism free and the most tolerant and diverse nation in the history of humanity. How does it feel to be a sheep Roderick?

  8. i'm from manitoba, it happened not far from my city. the bus had children and elderly. the man was repeatedly stabbing the victim in the neck with a huge knife before people realized what was happening. poor tim was gone before anyone had time to do anything. let's be real here. this isn't make believe. those passengers did the best they could. they kept that crazy man inside that bus so that he couldn't hack up somebody's grandparents, wife, husband , children, brother, sister, ect. lives were saved because of the smarts those three men had to keep him cofined to that bus. imagine if they hadn't. leave those poor people who had to watch this unfold in front of thier eyes alone. shame on you, honestly.

  9. stupid immature kid

  10. So where were you when you were needed Superwoman? No mention of Superwoman or Alice in Wonderland in any of the news reports.

How dare you post such a cruel,  thoughtless and stupid  message. Cruel and thoughtless because those people on that bus have already been traumatized more than anyone should ever be. Stupid because it was unforeseen. Stupid because if you gave any thought to it you would realize that fending off anyone on a moving bus is damned near impossible. Stupid because if you had read the reports, you would have read that the young man had been mortally wounded before anyone knew there was a problem. Stupid because if you had read the reports you would have known that it was late, people were lying back snoozing or watching t.v., not on guard waiting for the action to start.

Stupid because you think that just because you Americans think it is alright to carry guns we should too. well here is a news flash for you. Our crime rate in Canada for murders per capita is way below yours and it probably is as low as it is because we do not carry guns everywhere we go. You might be well advised to stop believing your own American propaganda and start listening to what the rest of the world thinks. It is not a pretty song!!!

Do not ask why people the world over dislike Americans.  Read your nasty and judgemental post and know why.

    You disgust me!

  11. Hey don't blame Canada. Real life isn't like tv shows. If there's a psycho on your bus threatening/or beheading a guy right in front of you with a knife, is it logical for anyone who doesn't have a weapon to get up and try to stop the guy? What;s a person gonna do, try to fight a person with a weapon in a crowded space like a bus, who is already holding and beheading a guy. Brilliant plan. Honestly, because there where SMART and REASONABLE people on that bus there was only ONE casualty.

And about banning all sorts of weapons in Canada? Go them! Now we won't see any incidents with teens bringing weapons to school anytime they feel like it and killing people. Or even little children playing and killing themselves or others with self defense weapons that are supposedly hidden in a secure place. Giving people weapons isn't always the way to go.

  12. I say they ban all forms of utensils. Why not ban everything else that seems dangerous like nail filers or hey, why not get rid of all the rocks and pebbles?

Maybe they were scared and didn't know what to do, "frozen in fear" perhaps?

Some people take a while to distinguish reality from imagination... Maybe they didn't think it was really happening.

  13. Thanks for generalizing this isolated incident as EVERY Canadian's reaction to a shocking, traumatizing and sudden event. You're heartless for insulting a general population as cowards. I'm just angry that you made a generalization when you obviously don't know anything about the people of Canada.

As for the incident itself, I was shocked to hear that no one tried to help this poor, innocent man BUT considering the sudden and traumatic situation, I totally understand why they couldn't possibly do anything.

Why do you say that "every type of 'weapon' in the world is banned in Canada"? The man used a hunting knife to kill this man... if that weapon were banned, how did it get on the bus in the first place?

I guess I can safely assume that you are American? And I guess that all Americans are "heroic" to a point where they are mindless idiots and die for nothing at all.

  14. You say you would've helped him, but come on. If someone was stabbing a guy and you were witness to it all, I doubt you would've gotten involved in the whole thing, because you would've been scared about getting attacked yourself.

  15. A 200 lb man, 6 ft tall, wielding a hunting knife, and you would try to stop him?  He is standing in a bus seat, there is a narrow aisle, the spot he is in is totally defensible, he has a deadly weapon in his hand, he has already killed one person, and you would try to engage him in combat?  What the heck do you think you could have done, besides die?  Your actions would not only not have saved the victim, as he was dead before anybody could have possibly reacted, but you would likely have been killed or very seriously injured with one swing of his knife.

Where do people get such idiotic ideas?

For those that think somebody carrying guns in Canada would have helped, I submit the killer likely would then have had a gun, too, and the resulting gunfight probably would have killed at least half a dozen people, especially if a shot hit the driver before he got the bus safely stopped.

  16. If you saw a crazy guy on a bus with a "rambo" knife go crazy and stab somebody, what are you going to do? Run for your life or try to confront this individual if the only weapon you have is possibly a cell phone you can throw at him.

  17. Well this is seeming more like an attack on Canada than anything else. This type of gruesome event could happen anywhere. If you're saying this sort of stuff never happens in the States, you need to get a reality check. I'm guessing the crime rates there are much higher. I would rather live in Canada than the US on any given day.

Also I think you're flattering yourself if you think you would have tried to budge in. He was already dead before anyone could have reacted to the situation. You're trying to make yourself look like a good samaritan but in all seriousness you are just an idiot.

  18. Your wording is causing some of the answers that you are getting.  However, I have to say I'm Canadian and I agree it seems really odd that I saw a bunch of news coverage where people who were on the bus were saying it was happening (the stabbing, not the beheading) in the seat beside them, or in front of them etc and they didn't do anything.  It was one psycho with a bus load of people.  I find it shocking no one jumped on the guy and beat the c**p out of him.

I was driving down the street one day and saw a guy grabbing a woman and smacking her around and shoving her into the car. I stopped my car in the middle of the street and started screaming at the guy until he let her go.  There were people standing on the street watching it go down - I'm a small 5 foot woman and there were 6 foot men standing there staring who were  doing absolutely nothing.  People are weird.

  19. i think this is a stupid question.

i am canadian ..and things like that don't happen all the time.

i'm sure if someone around you stabbed a guy you wouldn't jump up and try to stop him if he had a knife, he'd stab you in a second.

it's not like verbal abuse, it's hard to stand up to someone with a weapon who is obviously uncaring enough to harm someone.

violence is everywhere and you can't discriminate one country because you hear stories. there is probably just as much violence where you live too.
