How can Comcast say their network is bigger than Verizon's?

Those Comcast commercials with the goofy glowing people say Comcast's fiber optic network is bigger but I thought Verizon was worldwide? Miles of fiber-optic cable, number of custormers, amount of bandwidth...just about any way you measure it Verizon's network eclipses Comcast's. Don't get me wrong, I hate Verizon too (I work for a CLEC) but this is just an outright lie.

  1. Comcast counts their tv cabling, too.

    These things are in the same neighborhood as the number of angels dancing on the head of a pin, imo, because most marketing teams pride themselves on not knowing anything about the technology anyway.
