How can Cricket sport become big business if?

If the most important event in the calender of international cricket is lacking difficulties with NZ, ECB, & CA not wanting to participate for only 15 matches of the ICC Champions Trophy 2008 host: Pakistan?

I can only imagine what the oppostion fans or cricket boards say about Pakistan however, i think this is not the spirit of Cricket Sport.

Where this tournament in its short history to date, has brought all the leading teams & cricketers in the world together at one time to establish once & for all, just who is the best one day team in the world........

I wont call a country where suicide bombers are likely to strike exactly safe. Terrorism targets big events and things like that, though I have no idea why they would want to kill Australians.

Suppose Pakistan and Australia play in the semifinal, and it is a very close game. Australia is batting and Andrew Symmonds is at the crease. They need 30 from the last say 10 balls or so. Symmonds edges the ball but the umpire cant see if the ball carried to the fielder. Symmonds stands his ground even after the fielder told him it did carry. Replays show the ball did indeed carry. However the original decision stands and Symmonds goes in a frenzy and hits the winning runs. Afterwards there are accusations of dirty play from both teams and everybody is mad. Do you think if Symmonds walks in the street he will be safe? Or his Hotel will be safe?

I just think the situation could have been handled better. The teams who are reluctant to go to Pakistan should have set up a team to evaluate the security issues in Pakistan. They should have then reported to the ICC that they will go and play in the tournament but only if Pakistan improves on some areas. Pakistan would have said yes we will do it and then the opposing teams would have come.

I think this is poor management by the ICC and in the end of the day it is not good for Cricket.

Dear Furious,

I do understand your concern. As a great fan of this great game you only wish to see keenly contested games played in proper spirit. But, it seems not to be !

Well, lets go on with what we have. It is even possible that we wont miss much.

However, it is interesting how much some hypocrites value money more than thier life. Bombs in India did not scare them, but now it is a problem.

The fall out is however good, all the subcontinental teams have become united.

Well, the arrival of T20 has made it a big business.....however, it could make even a better international stand if they include it in the olympics.
