Who does he need to fight and beat?

Is Oscar just trying to have a better legacy by fighting Mayweather, or is he just fighting him for the Money?

Who would you like to see him fight in December?

  1. i think beating floyd and cotto might make him a great

  2. Its funny how Floyd fans comment  that DLH hasnt won a meaningful fight since 1999, When in 2001 won he beat Arturo Gatti and thats one of the big fights they claim Floyd has won.

Anyway I think Oscar's legacy is already set in stone as the biggest event fighter ever. I think the Mayweather fight is just part of his nature of if they say he's the best, He wants to get in the ring with him and beat him and i unluck many i think he can. Mayweather cant hurt him its just a mater of can he hurt Mayweather.

As far as december i'd like to see him do what he's always done and fight the best go out in a Mega fight with Cotto. Even though this would be his toughst possibility but if not Maybe Hatton or even Chavez jr. in Mexico or something i think that would be a compelling fight for his Mexican fans and thats who he ows it to more then anyone else.

  3. He has to beat a top tier Welter Weight, someone like Cotto, Margarito or Clottey.  At the very least fight Vernon Forrest, one of the few of his era he didn't fight.  Without a doubt the money plays a part, but there are several tough fights Oscar has avoided, foremost in my mind is Winky Wright, still a serious challenge for anyone.   Oscar should consider one of these if he is serious about his legacy.

  4. He is a 6 weight world champ and former Olympic gold medalist, he has earned more money in boxing down to his fights against top class opposition than any other fighter outside the Heavyweight division. Oscar doesnt need to prove anything to anybody and his legacy is intact whatever happens now at the age of 35 onwards the same as Hopkins legacy was intact before the Calzaghe fight.

If Oscar is fighting Floyd just for the money i wouldnt blame him, if he can get 30 million dollars from a fight when he is coming to the end of his career then who would blame him, i would say the questions about fighting just for money should be aimed more at Floyd who is in his prime but fighting a 35 year old instead of going after the likes of Cotto and Margarito to improve his legacy which isnt fully complete yet.

  5. With two fights remaining, Oscar simply needs to beat Mayweather..... by knockout or a veeery convincing unamious decision. If he is serious about a finale fight with Miguel Cotto, then he would need to do the exact same thing. Anything less would not do much for him.

    Plain and simple.

  6. He can't improve his legacy,  he was an outstanding fighter 6-10 years ago.  However he's just a box office draw right now.   People see him dominate Steve Forbes a guy that couldn't even win the contender & he's fighting a olympic gold medalist & former world champion.   If Oscar wants to impress everyone fight Bernard Hopkins again a fighter that destroyed him.  Or fight a challenge someone bigger like Kelly Pavlik.  He tends to go down in weight & fight shorter smaller fighters.   The great legends Ray Robinson, Ray Leonard, Thomas Hearn & Roberto Duran always challenged themselves.  Those guys all started around 140 to 147 & ended their careers at 178.  Oscar was a great fighter but to impress me as a legend he has to fight a fight he can lose & not some small fighter served up that he has beat before he steps into the ring.  He's only been KO'd once & that's because he fought a bigger taller fighter in Hopkins & he got his tail whipped!!!

  7. DLH is doing more damage than good to his reputation by continuing to fight.

He has no meaningful wins since 1999.

He has little if any chance of beating May.

He is all about the money.  It is not that difficult to figure out.  He can still beat up outclassed fighters (Forbes), washed up fighters (JCC) club fighters (Arturo Gatti) and hacks (Derrell Coley).  He also has the judges on his payroll, making sure his multimillion dollar paydays keep coming (Felix Sturm).

He loses to all the elite competition near his weight class.

Who should he fight in December?  If he wants a win he should fight Travis Clybourn (14- 39- 0), otherwise he should hang up his gloves.
