How can Detroiters still support Kwame Kilpatrick?

Question

After one term of blatantly using the city's credit card to live "large and in charge" Detroit's residents re-elected him and raised his credit limit.

Now he has been jailed and they are still supporting him.

It is daunting to me how people can allow this criminal to live like "pimp daddy" on their tax dollars.

Can anyone explain this?

Incidently, Detroit receives a lot of money in State and Federal aid, so it's not just Detroiter' taxes he's partying on.

Detroiters are just giving him the free pass.

It boggles the mind; There was all the evidence of him being a crook with the 'red Navigator scandal' in his first term, and what do they do?..freakin' re-elect him.

The city of Detroit is hopeless.

they elect black democratas there...always have, always will.  the city is run by democrats, and is one of the most violent corrupt cities in the nation.  dont blame kilpatrick, blame the idiots that keep voting in democrats to run the city.  in 35 years of total power in detroit, democrats have done NOTHING to turn around that revolting city.....yet the idiot voters keep voting them in.  and they will keep doing it.

you'd think for ONCE they'd at least try republicans just to CHANGE something.....but they dont like change (except hating bush)....so they vote in dems, dems, dems....dems for mayor, dems in city council, and activist judges....a city of dems, for dems, run by dems, and one of the worst cities in the USA.

A very good question!  I have never wondered why Detroit (where I grew up) is at the top of the list of "Most Racially Polarized Cities", highest murder rate, highest overall crime rate.  I remember in the last "election" there were two Dumocrats running against each other.

most of them here in Detroit dont. I think he should do whats right and resign, he is making Detroit look bad too. Even the Local news anchors ask him to resign. Mayor Kilpatrick should do whats right and resign.

There are some Detroiters who are making money due to their support of the Mayor.  There are a group who just getting by and know that nothing will change.  This is majority of the people because does this pay the rent.
