Their habitat is being destroyed at an alarming pace. 300,000 people move to AZ each year & they all need homes = habitat destruction.

  1. In Arizona:

    Privately owned lands...............12 million acres

    Federal Government Lands.......31 million acres

    Indian Trust Lands...................20 million acres

    State Trust Lands...................9.4 million acres

Only 17% of the state is available for habitat destruction.

  2. Oh, those Mexicans...

  3. get involved with an organization that promotes wildlife reserve such as The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Arizona game and fish has info on their web page under wildlife and conservation.

  4. create a blog and write about it

  5. Become a docent in the Coronado National Forest, the Saguaro National Park or another area where people often see the natural beauty of the area but don't necessarily understand or fully appreciate it's beauty and biodiversity. The state park system has gems like Pichaco Peak that could use your support, too.

Support organizations like The Nature Conservancy that help buy property adjoining wilderness or open areas. (Did I mention they might need volunteers?)

Good luck.  We visited last year and it was gorgeous.
