How can I 'win' at playing Sudoku?

I'd like to try this out but so far, all I get is frustrated! Are there any 'tips' that can help me get the hang of this game?

start slow and practice practice practice.

sounds simplistic but with a little bit of the knowledge you get from a guide referred to by a previous poster you will be able to apply that knowledge very fast and up your skill level.

on cafe.com they offer different 'rooms' with varying skill levels where you can practice as well as meet people. no annoying ads, totally free and pretty sociable if that's what you like.

best thing for me is you can test yourself against others, set and beat your highest scores and just get better and better constantly. made sweeter by the fact that you can also win prizes.

Try the beginner games first. They may seem too easy but you will get the hang of what you need to do. Once you are familiar with the strategy, move to harder games. I hated this game when I first tried it, but I have learned that it is actually a pretty decent game. As for winning, you win when you complete a puzzle and haven't looked at the answers in the back of the book!! Good times there!!  :)
