How can I Improve my jazz Technique by September?

What can I do to ?

I don't have my split yet, but what can I do to get to a split also?

  1. Practice.

    Think about your moves every second. Feel the beat. Be the beat. Visualize yourself dancing.

    In the movie Bring It On starring Kirsten Dunst, they had a little time left to chang their whole routine and make it the best. What they did is they practiced every chance that they had. In between classes, Lunch, before and after school, in bed, in the shower (not really, but it adds to the statement).

    So just practice. It usually works.

    Are there any dance camps you could go to?

    Or any summer classes in a different studio if yours doesn't offer any?

    As for your splits...Just stretch every night for a couple minutes then go down as far as you can on both legs. Another thing you could do is find an open wall and sit with your butt touching it and spread your legs as far as they can go while keeping them straight. Make sure your legs touch the wall. Yes... you might feel a little ridiculous but it helps!

    You will get it!

  3. i took dance for the first time and im 14 and kinda heavy.

    i was able to do a spilt and heelstretch within a month.

    heres how:

    -using the back of a chair stretch both of your legs everynight for at least 3 minutes a leg while your wtaching tv.

    -go as far as you can and hold it for 10 seconds on ur right and left heelstrech and right,left and center spilts 5 times each

    -do flautte warmups everynight too.

    -also for fun play fast beat songs and dance like no ones watching.

    this will build up ur stamina and help control ur breathing.

    stuff on youtube can help too.

Well to answer your split question...try holding it for a while up to where you can't go anymore, when your holding a stretch..it stretches out your muscles and makes it easier each time you try a split or anything else..stretching is the best way to become more flexible..i have both my left & right split..and also my straddle...if you stretch everyday for a good 10 mins...you'll be able to have your split in no time (:
