I've tried the Wake on Lan thing and such, but it's not working, so i'd like your help in finding another solution?

I need to turn on my computer remotely so I can use LogMeIn or TightVNC from school...and also to save electricity

thanks!

  1. not possible... the only thing standard PCs have that allow remotely booting is the wake on lan function.  If that doesn't work, you will need to figure out why.  Wake on Lan doesn't always mean it will allow you to turn off your PC completely, it might only work with your hardware if you have your PC in sleep mode.

There are specific PCs with remote controls and such, but those have specialized controllers that are likely integrated into the motherboard, or the power switch that allows this.
