How can I (a teen) redo my room without paying such a big price?

I want to do something that is creative and that is DIY.

paint is cheap.  paint one wall dark blue, get some glow in the dark paint and do stars or constellations, get a black light.

or, get some chalk board paint and make one wall a chalkboard and change your art periodically using different color chalks.

Go to your local home center.....Home Depot, Lowes, Menards....go to the paint dept....they usually have cans of paint that got mixed the wrong color, or the customer brought it back.  Regardless, they sell it cheap, but you're limited to what colors they have on hand.  You could paint the upper half of your walls a lighter color, the bottom darker, and run a themed wall paper border around the room to hide the line where the two colors come together.  You can sponge part of the walls, or get textured rollers to paint with.  Hope this helps.

You could make collages out of almost anything! candy wrappers,pictures,news clippings, the tags on your clothes you get the idea. Umm paint isn't too expensive and makes a big change in a room, but if you can't paint you can buy fabric and hang it from ceiling to floor to give the room some color. You can cover an ENTIRE wall with pictures too, and the rest can be a bright color. uh you can use cds as a border if you like music just like get little hooks and set them up in a straight line all the way around your room and then put the shiny side or whichever side youd like showing.

changing the paint color makes a big difference.

what you can also do is alter stuff you don't want into something else.

look for deals. since it's "back-to-school" time, a lot of stores will be having sales.
