How can I access a HD in another LAN through my PC.?

if two computers belong to two LANs , how would I access the others HD through my PC.

  1. A couple of choices to make this work.

    If the LANs are connected over the internet.

    Use a remote desktop. like Windows remote desktop or VNC or Himachi, GotoMyPC, etc. That allows you to control a remote machine and be able to transfer files from the other machine.

    or

    Use a VPN to make the two lans "one" with a VPN tunnel. This will allow the "remote" to be actually a machine on the LAN - it will only run at the available internet connection speed but it can then use computer shares etc!

    If the LANS are both LOCAL.

    If the two lans are in the same physical location, just set the routers up to bridge the lans!

    Thats the easy methods.

    Where you are located and what type of connection between the lans you have is the "missing" information here!
