How can I access my files without actually logging on

I think my computers got a virus. When I try to log on to any user it says "userinit.exe failed to open". I think I will have to reinstall windows or something. But I don't want to lose my files. Is there anyway I can access them without logging on like command prompt or something.

Try going into safe mode. That may allow you to actually log on.

you might be able to. run the computer in safe mode with command prompt ( hit f8 or f2 on startup or some other f key i dont remember ) and then there you go you can get onto the administrators account probably
