  1. Your other PC has to be on, then open up that folder "Network Places" (or whatever its called) and as long as both computers are connected to the internet through the same wireless hub, you can access the Shared Documents in your other computer. Any files you want to move between have to be saved here first though. :-(

  2. No, you are going to need a hub or a router.  A router would be best.  You would then need to setup a LAN or Local Area Network.  You could then share files between your two machines.

If you do decide to go with a WIFI router, be sure to encrypt your signal.  WPA2 encryption is best.

  3. It depends on what equipment you have now.  I am assuming you have a router, if not you will need to go buy one(a cost).  If you already have one here is an overview of what to do:

    1.  Make sure both PC are connected to the router.

    2.  Would really make things easier if both PC are XP.

    3.  Set both PC's up into the same workgroup.

    4.  Enable File/Print Sharing on both PC's.

    5.  Find the folder/files you want to share and share them.

    6.  Go to laptop and browse to desktop.

    7.  Open share and there you go.

It really isn't that hard (as long as both are XP).

If you have more questions about how to do this I can email you step by step instruction but I would need your email address.  (I will send them in the message and not include any attachments so no virus).
