How can I access someones wireless internet from my Toshiba laptop?

I currently have an AT&T Tilt device, and do not pay for internet, but I usually connect to someone elses signal or whatever. Is there a way I can connect to the Internet on my laptop without paying for the internet?

  2. Yes you can connect to the internet if you have a wireless network card, it sounds like you do. Its free for you but its not free. It is illegal to acess someones router and connect to the internet or use any other network resources without permission but people do it all the time. In fact I'm connected like that now. You can get away with it because nobody monitors their router or access points. If the router has security enabled then you cant get on without a key... Hence, You need permission.
