How can I achieve SMOOTH connection for my mobile broadband

Question

I am currently using Windows XP, Pentium 4 pc with about 700 mb ram, build in 2003.

I just subscribe to this connection (1mbps download speed) last month and it seems particularly slow when I try to access webpages using Firefox. Sometimes I tried to disconnect and reconnect but most of the time it lead to error pages.

I have been downloading torrents lately and download mbps sometimes reflect 0kbps and barely downloading.

Is there anything I can do to help to access SMOOTH internet services?
