Question:

How can I actually STOP being so independant?

My parents have worked full time since I was really small, so growing up I usually ate dinner alone, went to bed alone, basically just spent most hours outside of school alone.

Now I'm 16 and it's still like that and I think it kind of affects me in a bad way. There are too many times where I'll skip out on dates or events or gatherings just because I feel like being alone, and I can't even imagine having a steady boyfriend because that would be too much 'together' time.

I don't even know why I do it but I want to stop and be able to just feel more comfortable and not waste time by myself for hours on end.

Thanks so much for answers...

  3. i kinda feel bad for you... you've had a lot happen to you for, like, ever. being independent isn't bad, but what you seem to be feeling is just your habits.

maybe you can teach yourself to be more dependent. as for a steady boyfriend, you'd have to find the right guy, one who would understand who you are and your feelings.

idk. i'll be praying and hoping for you.

  4. some people need more alone time than others. If it is truly disrupting your every day life though, you should see a psychiatrist to maybe help you out, give you tips and advice on what to do.

    =)

  5. maybe pick an activity that u enjoy that u have mandatory meetings to go to

or start hanging out with just 1 or 2 people at a time instead of a large group
