  1. I have a favorite, easy chocolate cake recipe that includes chocolate chips.  I've NEVER had them sink to the bottom.  I'm not sure if it's the pudding mix or the sour cream in the batter, but I recommend giving it a try:

    Kahlua Chocolate Cake

one box chocolate cake mix (I use Betty Crocker chocolate fudge - don't use german chocolate or devil's food, it won't work the same)

    1 pint sour cream

1 small pkg (4 servings) instant vanilla pudding

    2 eggs

    1/4 c. vegetable oil

    1/2 c. kahlua

Using a hand mixer, blend all ingredients well.  Stir in 2 c. (1 standard size package) chocolate chips.  Pour into a greased and floured bundt pan and bake at 350 degrees for about an hour or until the top springs back and surface appears dry.

  2. If you toss chips, or fruit, in a plastic bag with some flour, they won't sink to the bottom.  If it's a chocolate cake, you could even toss them with cocoa powder first.....

  3. TX2step is right.

  4. I read several recipes but none actually referred to any method to keep chocolate chips from sinking.  All of them required a package of chocolate pudding to be added to the boxed cake mix, along with some revisions on how to prepare the mix.  I'm guessing that the pudding thickens the batter enough so that the chips don't sink.  One recipe required mini chocolate chips so that might be an idea too.

  5. wEll maybe do a layer cake

    first cook the bottom part

then put the chips on top

    then make another cake

    so its like three layers!

    cake

    coco.chips

    cake

  6. You should be able to bake your cake for half it's baking time and then take your cake out of the oven and add the chocolate chips. They shouldn't sink to the bottom if you bake the cake long enough for the batter to be a bit more dense than liquid.
