How can I adjust my Yahoo Mail settings to block advertisements?

spam those messages by marking them as spam.

Mmm... you can mark those messages as spam and never see them again. But I have to warn you, Yahoo! is partner with some companies and advertisements from those companies will be mark as "safe" and they won't go to the spam folder no matter how many times you mark them as a spam (for instance Dell, Circuit City and Target).

I would suggest to dich Yahoo! Mail and switch to Gmail since it has more aggresive spam filters.
