I have a craftsman 16" chain saw , it has 3 carburation adjusting screws , one has the letter T , and the other 2 has the letter L and the last one has the letter H ....

whats the proper way to carburate the chain saw and it is any practical steps to adjust the screws ? ( I mind, about how many turns back after been tight all the way )

  1. Boy, them things make you cuss don't they?

I have an old craftsman too, and there's no way I can keep mine from drifting off after being set.

I just use it about a couple times a year so I start from tighting the screws all the way down and keep my finger on the trigger and when it starts running with a minimum of farts I just let it go.

then I just do it again because by the time I'm finished that job,  the carb needs adjusting again.  and so on....

    good luck

    thanks

  2. Start with the L and H screws at least 1 turn open. It may not start at all if they are all the way in, plus running a 2 stroke too lean will burn it up.

Adjust the L (low speed) s***w at idle until the engine runs smoothly.

Adjust the H (high speed) s***w at wide open throttle until it runs smooth.

Let it idle again and adjust the T s***w to an idle that keeps the saw running but does not spin the chain.
