Question:

How can I adjust the disk brakes on my bike?

Right now I'm riding a 2007 specialized hardrock with shimano mechanical disk brakes. Today for whatever the reason the brakes were imcredicly tight when they should of been loose, making it highly difficult to ride. Does anyone know how to adjust the brakes so they're not rubbing anymore? By the way I've been looking around and have found stuff that people say things like "adjust the calipers...." or somthing like that, and I have no idea what these techincal terms are. I know it's a brake that works by clamping onto the middle of the wheel by the spokes, so please in your answer try not to use much technical talk. Thanks in advance for your help whoever answers.

By the way, I do not have the user's guide for my bike and have been incapable of finding one on the net.

  1. From the pictures I can find, it looks like the pads adjust by using an allen wrench on the side.
