Question:

How can I advertise my business without using my home address? UK

I am trying to advertise my own business - an active listening/counselling service, where I would meet clients for an initial assessment and visit them either in their home or a place of their choosing. I have a webpage, e-mail and mobile phone for arranging appointments, plus all relevant qualifications and insurance, however I am finding it hard to advertise as local newspapers say that they would need to publish my home address as I am offering a service.

I can understand if this is a legal requirement, and am happy to give them my home address, but I dont want it published because of the nature of my work.

Any ideas how I can get around this problem or what I can do? They wont accept a PO Box if I were to set one up or let me place an advert under "work wanted" either.

Any ideas where else I can advertise in my local area? I live in Scotland. I have placed a few free on-line adverts but no success so far!

Many thanks

  1. I would suggest to advertise your counselling business on the internet, if you really have constrains with the local newspapers to do so.  I do understand that initially it may attract fewer clients, but, once your clients start seeking appointments and they are satisfied with your counselling, your business will gradually increase through personal contacts of such clients.

Wish you all the best and every success in your counselling business.  So long.

  2. Why not rent an address that you can give as your business address?

It shouldn't cost much to rent a mailing address and you can then give this as the address your business operates from.

You wouldn't be renting any office space, just an address facility.

  3. Rent an address...on top of solving your problem, it will also give extra prestige to your business.

    IE: BLALABLA Business / 1 Regent Street/ W1....
