How can I amp the sound for a dvd on my Sharp large screen tv?

When I play regular tv or vhs the sound can turn way up - no problem. When I play a dvd the sound is much softer. I have tried different dvd players. I have had Sharp representatives out to look at it. The only solution is to amp the sound. What type amp/speakers should I purchase?

  1. YOu coulg get a preamp to adjust the signal coming from the DVD player so it's a little higher. You wouldn't want to make it too high or you'd blow your TV's speakers and possibly other components to boot.

Best bet would be to get a home theater receiver and a set of speakers. If you're on a low budget you would want a Home Theater In a Box (HTIB). If you have a grand or more to blow then you could get a decent non-HTIB system.
