How can I apply Borax against flea with no harm to my baby and toddler?

We do not have any pet at our new apartment but have flea probably from the neighbors pets. I have just seen 3 fleas at home whithin the last month but we continuesly get bitten and have itching. The indoor fogger that was used twice has not been helpfull. I am doing several loads of laundry everyday and a lot of vaccuming with no success. People are recommending Borax but my 2 year old is crawling, roling over and laying down all over the carpets all the time with bare skin "it is summer". Also my four month old is mouthing every thing within her reach and soon she will be crawling and finding more interesting stuff to taste off the floor. Do my children need to be out of the home while borax is on the carpet? How often do I need to use it? How long should I leave it on the floor? Should I wash our bedding and cloths with borax or just sprinkle on them? How can I tell if any flea reside in our clothing and bedding at all? If it is not safe to use Borax near my babies what are the other successfull remedies? What kind of doctor is specialised in both children and animals so I can ask my questions from? What is your opinion about salt as the enemy of flea?

  1. Borax is ineffective against fleas. The best that I have found is carpet flea spray. Works well and inhibits the reproductive cycle so is long lasting. Spray it on and once dry is safe for the little ones.

  2. Personally I don't think Borax would work for fleas and was surprised when I tried it for ants getting indoors at the single area of entry where I spotted them and worked as I was told the ants pick up the chemical which clings to their feet....however I don;'t think it would work on fleas bec they fly or rather bounce,

We use to own a dog and monthly flea medication works best but am sorry I can't remember how we got rid of their fleas bec our kids were little then and my wife was very upset. I know we bought and used flea sprays and occasionally foggers sold in retail stores but would recommend you studying & researching the life cycle of tiny fleas (think it is like 7 days or so) and source of blood for survival and reproduction bec killing them promptly or say washing your kids bedding in hot water is very important to controlling them...

Just letting you know I spoke to a dog owner who has experience with your situation and he said once fleas get into carpet bec they will lay eggs and reproduce, you have no other choice but using a fogger repeatedly like a few days apart in order to get rid of them.

Hope the Above Info Helps and Best of Luck!
