How can I apply Schengen Visa in Zurich to visit Italy.?

I am from INDIA on Business visa in zurich and my wife/daughter on Tourism visa. I checked and called italian consulate in Zurich and automated telephone system is in Italian I cannot undertstand. We would like to visit Rome and Vannice for 2 days.

I have previously worked at the Italian Consulate there, and it's very unlikely that anybody will answer the phone during the hours in which the Consulate is open to the public, because the place is usually flooded by visitors and chronically understaffed.

You'd better check the website listed as source first, and only after getting all the related info and download and print the visa application forms you should either call the Visa office of the Consulate (Phone no. 044 286 62 22, Thursday and Saturday, 10am to 12pm) for an appointment, or send an e-mail to [e-mail]. Once you got an appointment you should bring your family's passports and forms already filled in to apply for your visas.

If you cannot get through then you have several choices to find out what is the best course of action (although on an automated system, if you just keep pressing 0 then normally you go to an telephone operator)

1) Just ask someone (hotel receptionist etc) in Switzerland (as Italian is spoke) if there is someone that speaks Italian that can assist you

2) You can Email the Italian embassy in Switzerland [e-mail] instead of calling, but this could mean waiting 2/3 days for the reply

3) Or as you are an Indian passport holder then you can contact the Italian embassy in Italy in India
