How can I appreciate my birthday more?

Sounds like a weird question...let me explain.

I will be turning 21...but I am not looking forward to it. It comes from past "miserable" birthdays.

When I turned 19 - Hardly anyone remembered it was my birthday. Next day was exams...nothing to do.

When I turned 20 - My friends tried to make my birthday good (surprised me with a really well-thought out poster), but since it was the same day as Mother's Day...the people I wanted to spend my birthday with were not there...oh and then came exams. Oh, and my own mother made my birthday seem insignificant in that she canceled both Mother's Day and my birthday plans for some guests that she's seen a million times that were coming.

So as you can see...the word "Happy" doesn't apply.

And it depresses me so much when I see my good friends having the time of their lives on their birthdays (not that they don't try to make mine good...trust me they do try but luck always seem to have it's way). Of course, that doesn't deter me from making their birthday's awesome..because I love my friends and family.

Now my 21st birthday lies on a Monday on the week when exam starts. Woohoo!

I apologize in advance if I sound like an immature person.

  1. Be patient your future birthdays will be better, once your out of school there won't be any exams and that will be something to celebrate in itself!  :) Don't put so much pressure on having a good birthday, just enjoy it the way it is.  For your birthday just know that you are the birthday girl!! And no one can take that away.  You'll only have a good bday if you want to have a good bday
