I am married to a Mexican native and we just gave birth to our first child. Immigration laws are so ridiculous here, we are moving to Mexico to speed up her INS paperwork process.

  1. Do you habla? If so, check with companies that do business with the US and see what is offered.

  2. I'm sure you could find work at a resort/ hotel. They have many english speaking vacationers and having as many english speaking employees as possible has to be a good thing for them.

  3. Fluency in Spanish is essential if you want to live in Mexico, there´s no way around it.  Finding work is difficult, especially as a foreigner.  You have to find an employer who is willing to hire you and the employer must prove to Mexican immigration why they need you and not a Mexican native to do the job.  You´ll need a certified, translated copy of your university diploma in order to get the work permit.

Moving to Mexico will not "speed up" the paperwork process.  It takes just as long if not longer to file the Petition for Alien Relative at the US Embassy in Mexico as it does to file it in the US.  It will also take longer if your wife entered the US illegally.

  4. Put an ad in the paper or pin one to a bulletin board at a local university offering private tutoring of English.

  5. Yeah, when you get back let us know how liberal those immigration laws are in Mexico.
