I took my guitar to my local music store to put a button to my acoustic guitar but they said they wouldn't cuz if they drill a hole it will change the sound of the guitar and possibly break it. are there any alternatives??

  1. The best alternative is to go to a good music store where the technician is actually competent.  People put strap buttons on their guitars all the time and there is absolutely no problem.  There is no way that drilling a small hole into the heel of the neck could either break the guitar or change its sound.  That's total hogwash.

Just find a better music store with a competent luthier or look in the yellow pages for an independent luthier.  Make sure the strap button is attached on the underside (that is, the treble side) of the heel (see link for picture).  Also, keep in mind that if your guitar is expensive or collectible you'd be better off not adding a strap button since it lowers its resale value but unless you paid several thousand dollars for your guitar don't worry about it.

  2. If not, duct tape the same color?

  3. yes most guitar straps come with a string( or you just use a shoelace) on one end, and tie it around the neck.

they should have told you that, or even tied one on.

  4. You Jonas fans a drilling a hole in my head.

  5. Is there a button on either end? If it has one on the bridge side of the body but not on the neck side, you could try tying the other end of the strap to the neck under the strings on the first fret.

  6. Try Gorilla Glue
