How can I attract wild American GoldFinches to my yard?

My mom loves these finches that seem to be showing up for hours at at time. Recently they all vanished. I was aondering if anyone knew a way to retrieve them again.

They like sunflower seeds and other small bird seeds.  They are very colorful in the summer time, in the winter, they lose their bright yellow colors.

Put out thistle seed. You will need a special holder (sock) for the seed as birdgirl said... You can find the seed as well as the sock at a store that specializes in bird feeding products or a large pet store such as Petsmart.
