How can I avoid Migraines?!?

So, I've had migraines for 4 years now, I'm 15, I got it from my mom, I take my pills, but each time it gets worse than before, i cant stop it, but is there anyway i can avoid having one! Its so painful that i want to lock myself up in a dark room with ear plugs in!!

The best thing I did was keep a diary so I could learn what triggers my migraines so I can avoid those certain things..  Hope that helps.
