  1. flex (bend) your knees, keep your head up. Don't go rigid.

as a hockey coach of mine told me long long ago, don't be scared of falling down, just get back up and fall down some more till it's all out of your system.

  2. well you can practice. not all of us are good at skating. u can try practicing your balance on these things. practice makes perfect. good luck! ;)

  3. Dont put your hands in your pockets!! You need them for balence.

And if you feel pretty confident and start going fast, remember its easier to fall then.

Dont lean to far forwards. Look at your skates, there are pointy things at the front (toe picks) and if you lean to far forwards on your blades youll trip on them, thats what ive seen most commonly.

Also: Skating is not just walking on ice, but for a beginner start like your walking then later you can try to glide more on each foot. That will make you go faster.

BTW: The saying "if you can roller skate you can ice skate" is not true. I broke my arm roller skating, and i ice skate.

  4. stay calm and if you do fall start laughing it hides your flaws

  5. if you can roller skate you can ice skate

  6. Bend your knees and if you fall over clutch your fingers in, to make a fist and then (sorry to say this) you avoid your fingers being chopped off.I hope I've helped you!And have a great time skating! = D = )

  7. If you are seriously just looking to avoid falling, BEND YOUR KNEES.  Especially if you bend your knees and hold your knees.  It's almost impossible to fall in that position, so if you start to lose your balance grab your knees.

Other than that, try marching then stopping and gliding with bent knees - also, just shifting your weight between your feet will start to get you moving.  Have fun!
