How can I avoid fly on cherry fruit and apple ?

I just planted some fruit trees in my backyard . I have apple tree and cherry tree. I can see flies around the tree. What spray can I use and where to buy ?

I read that Imidan insecticide will help . Is it true , if so where can I buy that .

  1. Any nursery  should be able to advise you and will have a product to get rid of the flies.


  2. There are some fake apples that you coat with a sticky substance that attracts the insects and traps them on the sticky surface.  It is non-toxic to people and other animals.

Why do you want to avoid flies around your trees.  Unless you can identify them as harmful let them be.  They could be pollinators, they could be attacking other harmful insects.  Take a picture of one and post it under Zoology to identify.  Then if it is harmful you can find out how to eliminate it.

    I would stay away from harsh chemicals since this is food crop.
