How can I be a good sales person?

I just got my insurance license. I want to be a good sales person. I want to be that sales person who is able to get enough the nastiest, toughest customers to like me.

  1. Hi- Great all your clients with a smile and listen to their needs. It is all just pleasing them.


  2. Know the company inside out and find out which  type which is selling well and always use this as your punch line to get to customers. You will be successful.

  3. Answer the phone upbeat, friendly and confident.

    Know your insurance policies -- read them.

    Remember that it is always OK to say to a client, "That is a good question.  I'll check it out and get back to you."  

    Find the answer for your client and call them back promptly.  

    Don't make up answers.  No one expects you to know everything.

    Use spell check and proofread your letters and emails.  Poorly written documents makes clients assume you don't know what you're talking about.  

    Take a few minutes for small talk on the phone with clients but don't over do it.  After a couple minutes, ask what you can do for them.

    Be a resource for your clients and they will call you for more insurance and refer you to their friends.

    Don't expect nasty, tough clients.  People don't generally understand insurance and they are afraid of being taken advantage of due to their ignorance or made to look stupid.  "Kill them with kindness."
