How can I be better at hip hop?

I'm in my studio's tap company. This is my 10th year of tap. I've done hip hop before, but it was just to try it, and I was never any good. But I'm with a new studio, and the company director is very hip hop oriented. So the tap dance is very hip hop, and I'm going to have to be in an all company hip hop dance. I'm ridiculously white. I look so stupid doing it, and I feel stupid. I know you'll say 'just loosen up' but even when I go all out, I look ridiculous. This studio gets lots of platinum and overall. I don't want to s***w it up. How can I get better? I just feel like an uncomfortable white girl, even dancing in my room.

  1. the first thing is to get over thinking that you will make a fool of yourself.just be yourself, have fun and if you know the moves by heart then you will be fine. and even if you s***w up then you just have to fake it(i meant to do that or something like that).and if you have enought practice then you will be better in no time:D.

  2. go to your nearest hood and watch some b-boys breakin' in the park or on the sidewalk.

  3. Let the beat flow through you.

  4. Don't think about what you're doing, I mean think about the moves you need to do but don't think too much about how they're supposed to be done. Just let your body move with the music and it'll come.
