I am 36 weeks and some odd days and wednesdays are my "flip" days so by this wed. I will be 37 weeks. I was wondering if it is possible that I can be induced since my parents are taking their vacation to come down here. I go through tricare and military facility so I don't know how they would go about letting me be induced since they are already here and it's not a medical problem. Although this pregnancy has been very troublesome with cramps, diarrhea, and loads of back pains. Is it possible that they would induce me cause of that?

  1. I was going to ask my doctor to be induced when my mom came, but I would have been 40 weeks so its a bit different. I go through a military hospital, too and I don't think that military hospitals will induce before your due date without complications - and I'm not sure if your symptoms qualify as complications. Maybe your body and baby will be ready by the time your parents get there and then you can do it naturally. Good luck!

  2. i doubt they will induce you at 37 weeks i have really bad sciatica and hyperemisis yes i still have morning sickness( or should i say all day sickness) and my doctor won't induce me until im at least 38 weeks and even then we have to check to make sure that babys lungs are ok.

  3. They will not induce you unless its a medical reason for you or your baby, just becuase your parents are coming to visit they wont do it, which i know sucks, I asked my Dr to induce me becuase i have been having alot of problems and pain, but he said no your little one will come when hes ready and your dr will prob, also tell you that 37 weeks so way to early to induce you he prob, wont want to atleast you are 39 or 40 weeks

  4. Any decent doctor will not induce you at 37 weeks without a very good medical reason.  The earliest they "might" induce is 38 weeks, but they would require an ultrasound to make sure the baby's lungs and organs are fully developed.

But it never hurts to ask.  You never know.

  5. I don't know if they will induce you because of that, but my mum was induced with me just because she was fed up n wanted me out, but it took 2 days n there was still no labor so he had to have a c-section so consider it carefully n good luck with your little one

  6. I had my first daughter at Bethesda Naval Hospital under tricare. My doctors induced me at 37 weeks 3 days. They didnt seem to have a problem inducing at all. i had slightly low blood platelets at the time and they wanted to make sure they were high enough to give me an epidural. It wasnt so much a question of health as much as comfort. i would say it is mainly dependant on  the dr you have. definitely ask and ask more than once if you dont feel they are giving it the right amount of attention. But again, it all comes down to the docs. Good luck.

  7. No.  That's all a normal part of pregnancy.  You're not even technically to "term" yet (which is 38 weeks).  Your parents will just have to make an extra trip if they want to be there for the delivery.  Besides, it's not about what's best for you or your parents, it's about what's best for the baby, and it's best the baby stays in there until it's ready...
