  1. change your light bulbs to LED fluorescent bulbs

try to recycle, i do, and it only costs like $12.50 a month

use cloth bags when go shopping instead of plastic, and if you do use plastic, reuse them

unplug your electronics things when you aren't using them

dont throw away food that can be heated up so you dont have a lot of waste

    buy organic cloth t-shirts

    Hope I Helped!

  2. Clean or replace air filters on your air conditioning unit at least once a month.

If you have central air conditioning, do not close vents in unused rooms.

Lower the thermostat on your water heater to 120.

Wrap your water heater in an insulated blanket.

Turn down or shut off your water heater when you will be away for extended periods.

Turn off unneeded lights even when leaving a room for a short time.

Set your refrigerator temperature at 36 to 38 and your freezer at 0 to 5 .

When using an oven, minimize door opening while it is in use; it reduces oven temperature by 25 to 30 every time you open the door.

Clean the lint filter in your dryer after every load so that it uses less energy.

THERES WAY MORE AT THE LINK! XX :p

  3. The choice is yours!

Carpooling, cycling, transit, telecommuting, vanpooling, walking... so many choices! Luckily, there are as many travel alternatives as there are reasons to make the switch. Go Green Choices is a new program designed to help you choose the perfect combination to suit your individual needs.

    REPLACE YOUR OLD BULBS

Another important thing you can do is remind your parents to use electricity wisely! Get your parents to buy some new "compact flourescent" light bulbs. Each light bulb can reduce pollution by 500 pounds per year!

Do a bulb count! How many bulbs can you replace? How many pounds of pollution could you keep out of the atmosphere?

Most people used to dry their clothes outside. It was healthier (for the planet and for your body), it left your clothes fresh and crisp, and it cost nothing. Over the years, people switched to power dryers because it's easier.

But dryers take a lot of energy to run, and more energy means more pollution from the power plants. If you want to do some good, dry your clothes naturally.

You might not think turning off lights can help fight Global Warming, but it can. The power companies that provide electricity for your home create a lot of pollution.

When you recycle, you remove the three most polluting steps. The mining, transportation, and processing of ore adds a lot of pollution to the atmosphere. Recycling takes a lot less energy!

Remember, when you recycle you are doing a lot more good than you think. So what are you waiting for?! Go recycle!

This took a long time to type, but I hope it helps. : )

  4. Instead of fertalizer you buy in a can start a worm farm...weird I know. The reason is that their pee can be used as a fertalizer and has the correct amount of phosphate to nitrates that the ones in the store do not.

Start a compost pile for scrape food (if it is a small one DO NOt put in meat or dairy)

Collect water that comes from the gutteer/rainfall in jumbo containers and use that to water plants.

Anything you plant should have a nitrogen fixer with it so they can grow together (ex.corn+peas+clover)

This is from Nature Camp: If its yellow let it mellow, If its Brown flush it down.

Sounds gross, but saves a ton of water.

Use biodegradible soap, shampoo, silverware, plates, papertowells, ect

  5. dont think of green as using recycled materials and switching off appliances- think deeper- like try sourcing your food from the local area (farms etc) - do you know how much carbon is emitted in transporting your food from asia, zimbabwe (maybe not so much now!! lol) and other foreign countries when you could buy from down the road)

  6. Paint yourself green.

  7. By not being more green......

Why?  In essence you're saying, "How can I be more trendy"?

It doesn't take a trend to act responible.......It's boils down to this.....Only use as much as you need.  Then keep the rest in reserve for whenever someobody needs it.

Nest, find the stereotypical tree-huggers and sell it to them at double the price.

    Signed......The Organic Growers of America.

  8. You can become more green by gardening. Farmers are the most green people on the planet, because they don’t blame anyone for the destruction of the planet, they know more about nature more than most, and most importantly, are self sufficient.

  17. Live by the motto: Recycle, Reduce, Reuse.

I make my own laundry soap.  My blog at www.roguedecadence.vox.com has the recipe for it and easy fab softener in a recent blog. Better for you, your clothes, and the planet.

Plug all of your home theater stuff into a surge protector (splurge for one with a lightening arrestor, trust me) and just unplug that when you are all done with it, like before going to bed.  Same for all comp stuff, kitchen appliances, etc.  Even a simple cell charger left plug in can suck power out, costing you and the planet even more.

Line dry your clothes (I have a line set up in my laundry room, but there are so many options).

Follow the 100-mile diet (only eat things that came from within 100 miles of your home).

Be vegan (yup, I am , and it is actually pretty easy, and very very yummy).

Ya know, there are a lot of things you can do.  And honestly there is no way for us to completey answer that question here.  How about the Yahoo! group Going Green?  They are really great.  Or subscribing to Treehugger.com or allnaturalme.com (oh, All Natural Me has the Karma Cards thing ya gotta do).

Check out Rehashclothes.com, get a library card (they have movies there, too, ya know), and freecycle.org.

And if you see trash somewhere it shouldn't be, PLEASE pick it up and dispose of properly!

Something I heard from a friend today:

A grandfather and his granddaughter were taking a walk, and noticed a piece of trash on the side of the road.  He says "Somebody should pick that up," and continues walking.  The girls stops him and says "Aren't you somebody?"  That's something to remember and share...
