He's in 8th grade. I'm in 7th grade. He takes Tae Kwon Do and has more muscle than me. How do I beat him?

  1. why do you want to fight him in the first place?

  2. I have to agree with the others that have contributed that fighting is not the answer.

Being a Tae Kwon Do practitioner I can tell you that unless you can get inside his guard he will chew you up.

Don't listen to those that tell you that Tae Kwon Do is nothing to bother about. Due to the fact that MMA is so popular many gyms have started cross training their students. His main focus may be Tae Kwon Do but his teacher may be teaching him grappling techniques as well.

Just be careful and try to talk things out. Use your head before things get too far out of hand.

  3. I'd recommend getting in close and so he can't kick you.    Of course if he knows how to fight and you don't...don't fight him. The best you'll do is lose.

  4. My 10yr old daughter had a Tae-Kwon-Do grading tonight and had a boy all around the floor, she never took a step back in sparing. She would NEVER pick a fight, they are taught to use it to defend themselves, so silly you for trying.  Why not make friends, or agree to disagree, that's a way of winning as far as I am concerned. Walk away....

  5. Well..everyone else is going to say try to talk the problem out or something like that but you should still always be prepared to defend yourself. Tae Kwon Do is alot of kicks so make sure your not at a far range where he can kick you. You should stay close to him and you can take him down or or box from close range but don't let him kick you.

  6. Tae Kwon Do isn't nothing. Take him to the ground. And start hittind him. I don't suggest fighting. but if he picks on you just do what i say.

  7. You're sure there's no other way out of this situatation?  Seriously.  Look for another way.

Derek is absolutely right.  Just because there's no grappling in tournament TKD, doesn't mean he isn't learning it.  Plus you do have to get inside his guard to use it.

Why do you want to, or need to fight this guy anyway?  Are you studying anything yourself?  If this is a bullying problem talk to your parents, talk to a teacher, maybe even talk to his TKD instructor and see if he can mediate the problem.

  8. If you don't know how to fight first get experienced. When fighting a bigger opponent my best method would be to use Juditsu or Sambo. Research it

    Good Luck

Aim for the bridge of his nose he'll go down quick.

  9. ok first when u go up to him toe to toe dont rush in worst thing u can do have your hands up and on ur toes wait till he throws a punch or kick that u can tell he put a  lot of strength into then once you see that rush him as fast as you can run up to him and clinch  or run up to him with a flying knee and take him to the ground make sure u land on top and just try to punish him for picking on u if u noe u r too far to run into him to clinch get as close as you and just kick him in the thy i am not goin to say kick him in the knee because that causes a serious injury and that would end the fight and get you in serious trouble with the law

  10. Well, I'm going to skip the obvious answer (Avoid conflict and talk it out.)

The thing is, (being a Judo practitioner) Tae Kwon Do, Karate, etc. is only good when you're sparring (kicking, punching, etc.). They are clueless as to what happens when you are on the ground (I've found this out in many a friendly bout with my friends).

So my advice is to learn some ground technique (I suggest, with a slight bias, Judo chokes or holds).

The obviously difficult part is to get the aforementioned opponent on the ground, but after that (combined with some knowledge of ground technique and luck) it should be a victory for you.

    Hope that helps...

  11. lol... TKD blows... as soon as he tries to throw one of those big stupid spinning back kicks, punch him in the back of the head and then stomp the **** out of him.

and don't TKD'ers always leave one arm straight down while the other arm is up protecting their chin? this has never made any sense to me. this should be logical to anyone with a brain, but here's another thing you could do: throw a hook to the side of his jaw that his hand is not protecting! lol DUH

  12. like almost every person before me has said get in close grab his is shirt , his jacket, move him around dont let him set up any of his fancy kicks, knee him in the stomach, his legs whatever, tkd are not used to taking shot to the legs bc in thier competitions u dont score for  leg kicks, punch him another prob with alot of karate and tkd guys is they keep thier hands way to low sothier face is open most of the time, if u know anything about wrestling or grappling take him to the ground, for two reason he cant kick u, his size and muscle advantage go down significantly on the ground where leverage wins, then pound on him until he crys or the teacher breaks it u, good luck and keep ur chin down!

  13. ok dude. i have been in your position. being that he may have take a tai kwon do class, he still may not know how to fight. bring him to the ground, plus a fight is a fight. go for the balls, the eyes, and the throat. but BRING HIM TO THE GROUND. break his legs, arms. break at the joints. joints are weak. learn an armbar, or leg lock. chokes. good luck. and if he talks a lot of smack, he more than likely is a PUSSS

  14. In taekwondo you learn that the only appropriate times to use it for fighting are to protect yourself, your family, or your country. So this guy better have a really good reason for fighting you.

Don't believe people who say taekwondo is nothing. There's a reason it's been around for thousands of years (the oldest martial art, in fact).

The best advice I can give is to stay close and throw a lot of punches. Taekwondo is very leg oriented, so he may or may not know what to do when someone is throwing a punch at him.

However, he definitely knows how to punch really hard (it's one of the first things you learn), so be careful of your face.
