Hi. I decided I want to be a secretary or even more so a PA, as I have good organisational skills. But current admin job means that I am good at filing/ answering and making calls / document production.

I looked at a few ads for secretarial positions but you need to be able to use excel.... so I downloaded excel and taught myself how to use it. The ads also said to be RSA 2 Typing level or equivalent, so I took my RSA 2 final test today, and i'm fairly confident.

Problem is, all of the positions that i've seen require experience but how can I have experience if I can't get my foot in the door? In my spare time I am an FA approved Secretary for my partners youth football team that he runs. It includes typing and posting letters and taking anf typing minutes and agendas but nothing major and nothing like diary management.

  1. Start with a temp agency.  A lot of times you can get hired on full time from a temp firm.  I started as a temp on my job and I worked there twenty years.
